Advance Mathematics - Singapore Curriculum, CPA Method

Welcome to our Enhanced Singapore Math Program, crafted for students aged 8 to 12. We follow a 3-step strategy - Concrete, Pictorial, and Abstract (CPA), to simplify and deepen math understanding. We use physical objects for arithmetic and counting in the concrete stage. In the pictorial stage, we use visual diagrams to reinforce number operations. Lastly, the abstract stage involves solving complex problems with numbers and symbols.

We focus on understanding and applying math concepts rather than memorization. We integrate real-world problem-solving tasks, consistent practice, and effective feedback to help students progress steadily in their understanding of math.

The Program focuses on:

  • Hands-on Learning: We present mathematical concepts through interactive activities using tangible items to build a strong foundation.

  • Visual Learning: We utilize visuals to bridge the gap between hands-on and abstract concepts, enhancing students' understanding of mathematical operations.

  • Abstract Learning: We progress to using numbers and symbols for complex mathematical tasks, preparing students for higher-level arithmetic.

  • Understanding over Memorization: We prioritize understanding and application of math concepts over simple memorization, promoting active, meaningful learning.

  • Real-world Connections: We relate mathematical concepts to real-life situations, demonstrating the relevance and practicality of math.

  • Personalized Feedback and Practice: We facilitate consistent improvement through regular practice and customized feedback, adapting to each student's learning pace and unique style.
